How Energy Maintains Social Sustainability of Teachers’ Learning Communities: New Insights from a Blended Professional Learning Network

Social sustainability of teacher communities addresses the risk isolation and low vitality. Blended professional learning networks (B-PLNs) providing online face-to-face collegial are booming in Web 2.0 era to support teachers face various challenges. So far, what is lacking a thorough investigation into process where break isolation, regain their energy, sustain life B-PLNs. The purpose this case study was investigate reoccurring topics shared sustainable B-PLN for EFL Taiwan. This has attracted over 4600 members holds regular activities. Participants were interviewed reflect on experience target B-PLN. Applying content analysis, we generated two-cycle coding scheme through lens self-determination ego depletion theories. results revealed that initially joined with showing prominent need competence. At stage, energy rose relatedness noticeably satisfied. Finally, collective vitality altruism, engagement, empowerment, positive emotions uniquely emerged.
